GrizzlyGrizzly is about a big bear that kills everyones livestock. A man goes into the woods to hunt the grizzly. But he gets torn apart. He is barely alive and he shoots the bear through the head.

I liked this book because it had adventure in it.

I think that people around 12 should read this book because involves killing.

This is a great book that I really enjoyed and I recommend it to people ages 12yrs and up. It’s a book about the hard decisions that people have to make for the ones they love. It’s an emotional book about a girl called Lizzie. Lizzie has a 27yr old pony, called Shadow, that keeps getting thinner and Lizzie has to make a decision, whether or not Shadow will make it though the winter.
To find out what Lizzie decides read the book.
You won’t be disappointed.

This is a great story about a boy named Bruno who makes a friend on the ‘other side of the fence’. It turns to a great friendship, what will happen?

Bruno moves to a house in the middle of nowhere with no friends to play with and not much exploration to be done in the house, (Bruno loves exploration).

One day Bruno decides to go exploring as he walks down past the large fence with barb wire he saw a dot that became a speck that became a blob that became a figure that became a boy. Who is that boy? Where has he come from?

Read this book and find out.

Nicole is an average girl that wants to be more.
A school play is coming up and Nicole wants to be Cinderella but ‘Jasmine the perfect’ does as well. Jasmine’s friend Andrea is so determined to make Jasmine Cinderella that she sabotages everything Nicole does, including her gorgeous dress that her mum made. Read the book to find out if Nicole can deal with the pressure. You won’t be disappointed.
I really enjoyed this book because it kept me wondering what was going to happen next and how things were going to turn out. I recommend this book for ages 10-14yrs because it’s an easy read but it is a very intriguing.
This book was also written by a brilliant New Zealand author, Tania Roxborogh

The 10 PM Question By Kate De Goldi

Realistic Fiction 11 Comments »

This book is about a boy called Frankie Parsons. He’s a 12 year old boy who has a worrying problem.

Are the smoke alarm batteries flat?

Does the cat (The Fat Controller), and therefore the rest of the family, have worms?

Will bird-flu strike and ruin life as we know it?

Is the kidney-shaped spot on his chest actually a galloping cancer?

Do you see what I mean?!!? Even though there’s six people that are extremely significant in his life, Uncle George (Dad), Louie (his brother), Gordana (his sister), his Great-Aunts, Alma, Teen and Nellie, his Ma and his best friend Gigs, Ma is the only one who really cares about his questions!

But his world is turned upside down when a new girl arrives at school. Sydney is full of questions, relentless, unavoidable questions.

I recommend this book for people 10 and up.

Here’s a part from the book:  The 10 pm Question

Hatchet:The Return

Hatchet: The ReturnTwo years ago Brian Robeson was gone in the Canadian Wilderness for 54 days. Now they want him to do it all again, only this time he has another responsibility- an adult named Derek is coming along to learn how to survive in the wilderness so he can show others. Little does he know that Brian didn’t have to look after someone while he was in the Wilderness previously, what will he do now?

Hatchet: The Return is the thrilling sequel to Gary Paulsen’s series Hatchet. I recommend this book to people ages 8+, who have a feel for adventure books.
