When the war came home is for people who like ‘My Story’ books.
It is set when the black plaque first came to New Zealand and was wipeing out the town.
A paper boy finds people dead in houses and sees balck arms comeing out of train windows but to get away from all of this his mother and sisters move away leaving the paper boy and Crazy uncle at home.
They set out on an adventure and sneak around peoples propertys looking for a boat.
This book is written with very descriptive words and i love the way the author tells you whats going on.

Geronimo Stilton and lots of his family go skiing. Another mouse comes flying down behind him and crashes into him and they both start to roll down the mountain.  They roll into a big ball and they hit a big rock and Geronimo breakes all the bones in his body.

Sophie is an orphan. A lonesome little girl in an orphanage with an evil caregiver.

Until one night during witching hour, when no-one is supposed to be awake, little Sophie sees something she never expected. A 24 foot giant wandering the streets with what seems to be a soundless trumpet and a giant briefcase.

Sophie befriends this giant and goes to giant country with him. There are nine other gruesome giants who eat humans their names are-the Fleshlumpeater, The Bonecruncher, The Manhugger, The Childchewer, The Meatdripper, The Gizzardgulper, The Maidmasher, The Bloodbottler and The Butcher Boy.

Roald Dahl like you’ve never read before with an unexpected twist at the end. I recommend this book for people ages 6 to 17.

Harry is a condensed milk drinking pack horse that talks. Harry never seems to be doing any work. One of the things that Harry did stuck in my mind for ages, it’s when the outside dunny falls over and out comes Harry Wakatipu and five hundred and sixty thousand empty cans of condensed milk that were suppose to last Harry and his partner the whole year. This is a great book but can be a bit of a challenge to understand in places, so I recommend it to confident readers.

Witches are really quite evil creatures. All dressed up in fancy clothes disguised as innocent human women. DISGUSTING! When a Norwegian born English boy’s parents die, he is sent to live with his Norwegian grandmother, he was always fascinated by his grandmothers stories but the ones he loved most were the ones about the witches!
If you want to read grandmama’s stories then just get the book out of the library and dig in! I have read this book many times and recommend it for children aged 7-15.
